Manufacturer: Glenmark
Pharmaceutical name: Clotrimazole Topical
Pack: 1 tube (1% (15gm))
Candid Gel is intended for the treatment of vaginal yeast infections. Clotrimazole helps alleviate vaginal burning, itching, and discharge associated with this issue. As an azole antifungal, Candid Gel functions by inhibiting the growth of yeast (fungus) responsible for the infection.
Before using Candid Gel for self-treatment, consult your doctor if it’s your first vaginal infection. This medication is effective only for vaginal fungal infections; you might have a different infection type (like bacterial vaginosis) that requires another treatment. If you experience fever, chills, flu-like symptoms, abdominal pain, or a foul-smelling vaginal discharge, refrain from using Candid Gel and contact your doctor immediately, as these could indicate a more serious infection. If using the over-the-counter version for self-treatment, read all instructions on the product packaging before applying Candid Gel. For any inquiries, reach out to your pharmacist. If prescribed by your doctor, follow their directions precisely.
Candid Gel is solely for vaginal application. Ensure to wash your hands before and after use. Prevent contact between Candid Gel and your eyes. If the gel does enter your eyes, rinse them immediately with plenty of water and contact your doctor if irritation persists. The dosage is determined by your medical condition and treatment response, generally applying Candid Gel once nightly at bedtime for 1 to 7 nights as recommended by your doctor or based on the specific product.
If using the vaginal gel, adhere to the package instructions for filling and using the applicator with the gel. Lie on your back with your knees drawn up to your chest. Insert one filled applicator into the vagina as far as is comfortable. Gradually press the applicator's plunger to dispense the gel. Ensure you are using the correct gel intended for vaginal application, as opposed to the skin gel designed for external use on the vulva.
If you experience itching or burning around the external vaginal area (vulva), apply the skin gel to that region typically once or twice daily for no longer than 7 days. For products containing only the vaginal gel, a small amount may be applied to the area. Continue using Candid Gel daily for the entire prescribed duration, even if symptoms alleviate after a few days or if your menstrual cycle begins. Discontinuing Candid Gel prematurely may result in the yeast infection recurring.
Avoid using tampons, douches, spermicides, or any other vaginal products while treating with Candid Gel. Unscented sanitary napkins are suitable to use during your menstrual period or to safeguard your clothing from potential medication leakage.
Notify your doctor if your condition does not improve after 3 days or continues beyond 7 days. Additionally, inform your doctor if your infection reoccurs within 2 months, as you may require a different or additional treatment.
